Anyway, here are a few pictures of the Enki case for the iPad 2.
The case itself surrounds the back of the iPad fairly easily. The 4 corners sort of hold the cover in place. Every now and then a corner might come loose, but that hasn't been much of a problem.
The cover itself seems strong enough to handle typical knocks and scratches. Since I've been using the iPad 2 for a while without a back cover, I thought I might be bothered by the added bulk on the back. Fortunately, it hasn't been bad at all.
This is the corner that includes the camera, sleep button, volume, and orientation lock (or mute depending on your settings).
The edges of the case near the buttons are usually rounded, however I did encounter a couple of places where the edges of the cut-outs seemed sharper than I would have expected.  Not make-you-bleed sharp, but not as refined.
This is the bottom - you can easily see the speaker opening as well as the one for the 30-pin connector. I have had no problems connecting the iPad's cable. I don't have any sort of charging stand for the iPad, so I'm unsure if there would be a problem in using one.
This is the other bottom corner with the Smart Cover. The Smart Cover does lay flat with the Enki case in place.
I did have to get used to the edge of the Enki case bordering fairly close to the far edge of the Smart Cover. It hasn't been a problem, it simply changed which edge I use to open the Smart Cover.
The top edge of the Enki case does cover the iPad 2's microphone. It's hard to see in this picture, but the edge of the case is just below the mic. It's odd that they didn't cut a hole for it.
I tested the sound quality with and without the case over the mic. I did notice I sounded slightly further away in the samples with the case in place, however it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And the flip side is that you won't get any blowing wind noises. So, this may be an issue for you.... but, I also realized that this was the first time I had ever used the mic on my iPad 1 or 2.
Hope the info and pictures help...
Oh, also.... here's a quick video that also shows the case. Just don't laugh.... too much.... it's my first time playing with iMovie and it was shot using an iPhone... so, don't get your expectations up. I am beyond an amateur. :-)
If you click the video and it says 'private,' I'm sorry - my first time really uploading anything to YouTube. I changed it to 'public,' but it seems some people are still having trouble.

Thanks!
I appreciate seeing your review and video - thanks for posting. I preordered mine from Amazon on May 1, and received an email from Amazon today stating Enki hasn't confirmed shipment with them so they haven't charged my credit card. I'm glad I used Amazon rather than Google checkout, because I heard some of those customers got charged twice. I have a suspicion that my order might never get fulfilled, but I'm glad to have seen your review anyway.
ReplyDeleteDeb - Thanks for your comment....
ReplyDeleteI got a similar email from Amazon, then they arrived the next day.... odd, really...
I think you took a good whack at it!!!! Haha, this is really nice. You should check mine out... I just got mine and did a review and took some photos.
